Hamblen County, formed in 1870, is located in East Tennessee, one of the state's three Grand Divisions.  It was named in honor of
Hezekiah Hamblen
In area, it is the third smallest county in the state.  It ranks 20th in population.
Morristown is the county seat.  It is one of only two cities which can boast of "overhead sidewalks".
Hamblen County is bordered by the counties of Grainger, Hawkins, Greene, Cocke, and Jefferson

Hamblen County Genealogical Society


The HCGS meets on the first Thursday of every month at 1:00 PM in Rose Center, Room 2.  You may enter the building through the side door across from the Courthouse's rear parking lot.


$15.00 per calendar year,
which includes 4 issues of the "Hamblen Heritage" newsletter.  Members joining mid-year or later receive back issues of the newsletter for that year.  Each issue has 24 pages of Hamblen County records, happenings, and other items of interest.
