Hello, I am researching my family history and it has a path that takes it through Carter County. I believe sometime around 1800 Adam Winsell Sr. and Adam Winsell Jr. settled in Carter County. Adam Sr. had been a captain in the revolutionary war. Adam Jr. was a captain in the east Tennessee militia and fought at the battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814 under Colonel Allison. Adam Jr. moved to Indiana after the war but I believe that Adam Sr. stayed in Carter County for the
remainder of his days. I am looking for birth, death, marriage, census, land, or court records. I would appreciate any help you could offer. (There are variations of our surname Winsell, Winsel, Wincel, Vincel, Vencil etc.)
Thanks in advance for your help, Jeff Winsell

I am trying to find out who Joseph Paxton's ancestors were. He lived at Carter County, TN in the 1830's where he met and married Lavisa Bowers daughter of Valentine Bowers and Abigail Buck. At the same time Joseph was in Carter County their was a Thomas Paxton who was bn abt 1800 who married Mary Wilson daughter of Garland Wilson and Mary
Polly Cook. Mary Wilson's sister Sarah married Abraham Nave one of Lavisa Bower's cousins. Also on Thomas and Mary's marriage bond it has Joseph Paxton listed as a granter. I believe these 2 Paxton's might be brother's and would like to make a connection with anyone that would be able to connect these 2 or has information on who Joseph's parents were.

I am looking for any information about Susie Valaria WRIGHT or Susie Valaria HILL Wright who was born in TN and I believe her parents were born in TN also. She married Walter Andrew Lester around 1897 and they lived in Texas. She died in childbirth to her daughter Valaria who left home around 16-18 and never returned home. The story goes that she was from a well to do family and they were not happy when she left TN and married Walter. As it turns out, they were correct. Walter was a very mean person to his wife, his children, and his animals. He was killed in 1923 by a mule/horse that kicked him in the stomach.
